Skillful psychedelic care depends on far more than knowledge or technique.
This guided self-assessment explores eight foundational capacities that support ethical, relational, and skillful psychedelic care, including self-reflection, identity awareness, humility, navigating complexity, embodiment, and openness to the unknown.
Designed for psychedelic care practitioners and others supporting people through transformative experiences, the assessment invites honest self-inquiry, helping you notice your strengths, growing edges, and the capacities that continue to develop through relationship, practice, and lived experience.
Whether you guide, support, teach, heal, or simply want to deepen how you relate to others, this resource offers a meaningful place to pause, reflect, and keep growing.
The following self-assessment is an invitation to reflect on core capacities that Gather Well believes support ethical, relational, and skillful ways of being with others. While these capacities are especially relevant to psychedelic guides, they can also support anyone working in a helping, healing, or relational role, and anyone interested in cultivating more conscious ways of relating and “gathering well.”
These capacities are not qualities that someone either has or does not have. They continue to develop throughout a lifetime through relationship, practice, feedback, and reflection. Depending on our identities, lived experiences, and the environments we have moved through, some capacities may feel more familiar while others may require greater attention.
This assessment offers an opportunity to notice your current patterns with honesty and curiosity. The questions are designed to help you observe yourself, not to evaluate or judge yourself. It is not intended to produce a score or determine your readiness to guide or support others. We hope it supports self-reflection.
